Last week, a woman traveled from South Georgia to the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Florida. She was there to collect enough food to ease any aches in her children's bellies over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Council unduly chummy toward port as vote nears
Here's another reason ordinary citizens don't hold the City Council in high regard. During council committee meetings earlier this week, the Jacksonville Port Authority's top executive, Rick Ferrin, and two of his key people, David Kaufman and Eric Green, were in the council's notorious Green Room yukking it up with council members.
